Dr. Chad Ulven from NDSU, gave a talk about biobased material that has tremendous potential to be used as the main substance of daily commodities. Biobased material is lighter than regular polythene and polyester and less harmful to us both in terms of dermatological usage and carbon di oxide foot print. His research team is currently collaborating internationally and his research works have already been accepted by big corporate houses such as Ford. We will be meeting in Hagen 325 at 5 pm this evening.
A snowy afternoon and a Sunday could not stop physics enthusiasts from Moorhead neighborhood to stop by and check an awesome physics demo show arranged and nicely presented by the SPS members. All demos worked well. Special thanks to all of our faculty members, off-stage volunteers and hats off to the on stage performers, Victoria,Aaron, Meredith and Tyler. Time to admit: “Physicists are good actors!”
Members talked about the upcoming demo show that will take place on January 22, 2012 at the Hansen Theater. Members will be at the theater by 12 pm. The demo show will be started at 3 pm.
We will be meeting at Hagen 314, this Wednesday at 5 pm for the first official meeting of spring 2012.

Hello All:
On behalf of Society of Physics Students MSUM, I wish you all a very happy new year 2012. We will be selling lab manuals of the regular course work at the Astronomy Research Lab (HA 302). If you are willing to volunteer and help students to get their lab manuals, just check in the lab, ten minutes before the lab starts.
We are going to organize the first physics demo show on January 22, 2012. We will talk about it more in the next couple of weeks, after classes resume.
On a lighter note, Murshid, Meredith and I participated in the University Physics Challenge Competition 2011, and we ended up as accomplished competitors. If you are interested in problem solving (other than your homework), you are welcome to e-mail me at bhattachsh(at)mnstate.edu.
Enjoy the rest of the break.
Thanks,
Shouvik K. Bhattacharya
Vice President
